Principal's Message

Welcome to Barfield, home of the Tigers! This is a very exciting time! I look forward to seeing our Barfield Tigers as well as meeting our new families and having them join our Barfield Community.  Together we can ensure a successful school year.

There are many great changes taking place here at Barfield. This upcoming school year, we will continue our implementation of the Daily 5/Café, which is a model for teaching literacy. Literacy is important to us because it provides opportunities.

Along with the Daily5/Café, this summer our teaching staff received G.L.A.D., Guided Language Acquisition Design professional development, which is a model for academic language acquisition and literacy in the areas of science and history/social science. The strategies specifically target and promote language skills, academic achievement, and cross-cultural skills with efficiency, guided language acquisition design

At Barfield, we expect excellence and hold students accountable, but with compassion and care through Positive Behavior Interventions and Support, PBIS. This school year we have updated our expectations to P.A.W.S.:

  • Problem Solve
  • Always Make Good Decisions
  • Work Together
  • Show Respect

Our goal is to promote language acquisition, high academic achievement, and 21st century skills in each and every classroom here at Barfield. Please feel free to reach me with questions, concerns, and stories at Rosario.ambriz@pusd.org or (909) 397-4575. All of us at Barfield Elementary School welcome you and look forward to working with you!

Thank you,

Mrs. Rosario Ambriz
