Welcome to Barfield's Tiger Pride Weekly Announcement. Good Morning Barfield Tigers!  We hope you all had a wonderful Easter and Spring Break. Our kindergarteners and first grade students did a wonderful job of keeping their distance from one another and wearing their masks properly at school. I want to welcome our second and third graders to Barfield. We are so happy to have you on campus. Mrs. Vasquez and I have left you a little something on your desk. Take it home and enjoy. Students in 4th, 5th and 6th grade will continue on distance learning as well as those students that are in Cohort C 100% distance learning. Don't forget to attend your class every single day and on time. For those students returning, please make sure your parents fill out the Parent-Student compact. Have an awesome week Tigers. It's time to recognize our tigers for their awesome accomplishments! Tigers, just a reminder to follow your PAWS expectations every day. Remember to problem-solve, always make good decisions, work together, and show respect. Here is the tiger tip of the week from Mrs. Madrid. HI Barfield Tigers. Mrs. Madrid here. This week Tiger Tip is about compassion and coping with differences. This week our quote is from one of my favorite people Kid President. He said, "You don't need a cape to be a hero. You just need to care." This week our SEL lessons focus on compassion and coping with differences. Showing someone you care and respecting their differences of those around you shows you have compassion. And compassion is what we spoke about last week. We all may be different from our friends or classmates but that's what makes it unique. Let's hear from one of our Tigers about College and Career Readiness. Hi Fellow Barfield Tigers. My name is Gerardo Contreras from Ms. Piccirillo's class  This week our College of the week is The University of Southern California. the University of Southern California is also known as USC. It's a private 4-year College located about 35 minutes from our home town of Pomona. USC is the oldest private university in California. USC University colors are cardinal red and gold. Although USC technically does not have a mascot, Tommy Trojan has been a symbol that represents USC students and athletes since 1912. USC offers 95 undergraduate degrees and 134 Masters/Doctoral professional degrees. USC also had successful Athletic program including football, basketball, and baseball.
